Promotion of a new artist and song

New artists can be promoted in many ways, some do by working closely with other big time artist hoping to get sign by some producer who might have watched the video, other artist get promoted by TV programmes such as Britain's got talent, X-Factor and many others. weather the artist is successful or not could be down to his or hers character or metaphorical image or physical.  

In 2011 when wiz khalifa released the single black and yellow, it was a global phenomenon, it pick a staggering 182,484,439 views, this was notice the artist such as juicy j, snoop dog and T-pain jumped on the gmix which picked up 99,523,957 views. 

Although the remix didn't’t pick up as many views as the original, but artist as famous as snoop dog featured in the video wiz khalifa was bound to get notice. The whole purpose of this remix was to promote wiz’s famous home town colours Black and Yellow and also Taylor gang.



Promoting a album 
when promoting an album an artis will dedicate a track toward the album, named probably after the album itself. There are many other ways of promoting albums being though singles which can be played on the radio or you can promote by tours or YouTube. Big artist such as jay z, Rihanna or nicki magji could have a their own network page. Other up and coming stars would use a public social network such as mixtapemadness.
When Michael Jackson realest the music video thriller in 1982 he was promoting his sixth album thriller. Michael's album which sold 28 million copies was broadcasted on MTV and was uploaded onto YouTube in 2008, the track pick up by 8 million, and in 2009 Vevo bought the video which boosted the views up to 199,983,847.
 


Change of direction
A change of direction of is when an artist decides change his or her genre of music, style or career, for instance if jay z changed from rapping to soul it would only for the better good so the artist can better himself, to make a bigger profit or trying to make himself a bigger star, although some artist change direction because the old career isn't working out for them. But most artist change because they want to give off a new image that could be flashy or quite down to earth.
Snoop dog is an rapper from long beach who burst onto the scene in the 90s, his genre back then was gangster rap. Snoop has featured with lots of big star such as dr.dre, wiz khalifa, 2puc and many more artist all of these being gangster affiliated. For 21 long years Snoop has been rapping about guns and violence, but in 2012 Snoop wanted to change his whole persona, Snoop changed his name to Snoop lion and said " I want to make music my grandparents and grandkids can listen to". Snoop lion realest an album called  Reincarnated it sold 21000 copies in its first of release to debut at number 16 on the Billboard 200 chart.



Promotion of and synergy

 A promotion of and synergy is were an artist promotes a product though their music video, this could be beneficial to their profits as they are trying to persuade their audience to buy there product, this can consist of alcohol, clothes or accessories.
A music video that promotes a synergy is CIROC STAR" Chester French & Clinton Sparks Featuring Diddy and Jadakiss. In this video Diddy is promoting his new drink ciroc, it features Diddy rapping about his new drink whist at a party that he has paid for himself with other big celebrates like Rick ross and Jadakiss beside him. Diddy is trying to make is promote his new drink by making people aware that celebrates drink ciroc themselves. This is a very smart tactic because people will believe they will have more status if they buy this product. although Diddy is a big star already, he still decided to include other artist within the video, this could beneficial to his product because it could make more people aware of the drink because of all the different genre types include within the song. this mean that Diddy can have a larger target audience. This would appeal to everybody aged 18-40 because of it party atmosphere, due to this the target audience is for partyers.The music video includes close ups of the product and with Diddy holding the product and flashing it in the camera.          







Promoting a single

singles are used to help establish an artist, it gives the audience a taste of what new they have to offer or they can use it to promote an album realise. in order for an artist to put out a single into the public it would have to be chosen by a record company first before it could be air or played on the radio. some artist use single to promote a new product, they do this because the song wont fit in with the album so the can sell singe as a one track album.

Bobby shmurder new single hot n*gger helps him promote himself and his crew GS9, making people aware of his present , bobby was signed to  Epic records when he released the track, the producer Jahil beats made an income of 2 million.  The beat came as a come-up courtesy of Lloyd Banks,  a song that debuted the "Shmoney dance" which went viral after the release of the music video. The single has so far peaked at 9 on the billboard hot 100, with the song being remixed and performed by numerous other artists including lil kim, french montant, Juicy j andGunplay, and due to the stagering views from the public bobby has became a new favorite in in my eyes.

  Increasing the income for the record company

when a single or an album is sold the record company controls the right to the video the artist will receive some payment for the video, but not as much as the company. some artist prefer to make all the income for themselves, in doing so they will have to create their own record company.

Eminem is an artist who team up with royce da 5'9 1999 they create their own record label shady records. since then Em has collected all the profit form himself improving his income. Eminem has also be able to sign numerous artist such as ace hood and yelawolf. This benefits Em because now he make triple on profits and takes all the credit and most of the money for every album they sale. The main objective of signing big artist is to get other aware of how big the label is and what it could do for other up and coming artis or for people who just want to improve their image. because the company has been around for almost 15 years it is very possible that Em has his own social networking this increase his range of media. artist can advertise though google, instergram, YouTube and twitter have a benefit of reaching out to more audiences because most people today use the sites on a daily bases.

 Increasing the range of media

An artist can also use social network to increase their range of media. most stars today use it to promote an album, single, tour or product. artists use networks because it is the best way to sell a media product and to get the attention of the audience. For instance for new artist they would use an advert on YouTube which you can't skip so you will have to listen to it, other can use facebook ort twitter to get you attention.

an example of this dr Dre, dr Dre has made a 1 billion doller for media product beats, an recently created an advert for his new portable speaker the beats pill, the advert can be found on TV, radio, social networking and YouTube. The benefit this has brought to Dre as he has been able to sell his product worldwide. Dre has also featured the single happy in his advert boosting his revenue, the song has top the music charts.

Evaluation 


When creating my radio ad, at first i had difficulty with with my script because i didn't plan it for as long as i wanted, in result it turn out me having to mumble a couple of words to make up for the time. if i could i would change it so i did i re-recored my ad and writ a proper script to go into my radio ad and now it has improved it to a new level, I've also have time to put in little extras like commentators from real life match to make it more authentic. 

what's effective in my radio ad 
i think that the unique selling point of my radio ad was that i included young people debating over weather the new Fifa is better than old one. i think that this is unique because it show normal people instead football star such as messi although if the ad feature messi it would probably get more listen but we are not targeting everybody we are letting that Fifa is emotional for everyone not just for people in there 25s
